The Different Types of Alopecia

Most commonly hair loss is thought of being on the head as it is the most obvious place for hair loss. Telogen Effluvium is where the amount of hair being shed is so much that the hair is visibly thinner.

Scarring Alopecia is where the hair being shed leaves the skin scarred

Traction Alopecia is the shedding which occurs when a person pulls at their hair too much. This may be because of styling their hair a certain way or stress related causing the hair follicles to stop developing new hair cells.

    Sometimes, I get lazy at night. I don’t want to wash my face and I just want my hair out of the way. So, I pull it back it a ponytail. I know this is bad. Not for my sleep, but for my hair. If you csdnioer the hours that my head rubs against the pillow in that ponytail, it cannot be good. And according to experts in Dermatology, I am not too off base. Although many things contribute to hair damage and hair loss, one of the most common reasons we lose hair is due to poor cosmetic grooming decisions.
